Sitesy ("we", "us") is an app that tells you audio stories about the places around you. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. If you have a question, contact us at dennis.dinuto@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Your location. With your permission, we use your device's location to find stories near you. If you decline, we estimate an approximate location from your IP address using a third-party service (freeipapi.com). You can also search for any place instead.
- Account details (optional). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google via Firebase Authentication.
- Your activity in the app. If you are signed in, we store your saved stories, places you have discovered, collected items and streaks so they sync across devices. Your display name, photo and collection count may appear on the in-app leaderboard to other signed-in users.
- Data stored on your device. Settings, favourites, history and downloaded stories are kept in your browser's local storage.
- Camera and microphone (only when you use those features). The camera is used to create a shareable photo card on your device. The microphone is used only for voice features you start yourself.
- Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the app is used (for example, pages viewed and features used). This uses cookies or similar identifiers.
How we use it
- To find places near you and generate stories, tours and audio narration about them.
- To save your preferences and progress.
- To understand and improve how the app performs.
We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers
We rely on the following providers to run Sitesy. Your information may be processed on their servers, including outside your country:
- Google (Firebase Authentication and Firestore, Google Maps Platform, the Gemini API for generating stories and audio, and Google Analytics)
- Vercel (website hosting)
- freeipapi.com (approximate location from IP address, only if you don't share your location)
When we generate a story, we send the relevant coordinates or place name to Google's Gemini API. We do not send your name or email address for this.
Your choices
- You can use Sitesy without signing in.
- You can turn off location, camera and microphone access in your browser or device settings at any time.
- You can clear on-device data by clearing your browser's site data for sitesy.ai.
- You can ask us to access, correct or delete the account data we hold about you by emailing dennis.dinuto@gmail.com.
How long we keep data
We keep account data while your account is active and delete it when you ask us to. Analytics data is kept according to our Google Analytics retention settings.
Children
Sitesy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above.
